Jay and Kathe
After the remodel, the only thing that was left original to the
swimming pool was the gunite shell. Jay and Kathe had living
the house since 1975 and the swimming pool had served its purpose
entertaining there and the neighborhood children. They wanted
to hear the sound of water falling, but didn't want to install a
waterfall. Jay and Kathe felt that the swimming pool had an
old style look with white plaster and an old slide. Every
since they moved into the house, there had always been drainage
problems and water would collect on the porch during a hard rain.
After the last drought an existing crack in the middle of the
swimming pool had increased to extend the across the width of the
swimming pool. This crack caused the swimming pool to leak
water faster then they could fill it and was a cause of some very
large water bills. The retaining walls had begun the crack and
looked weathered. The slide was an eye sore and Jay and Kathe
now wanted a center piece that enhanced the look and feel of their
backyard.
Aquamaid met with Jay and Kathe to design a backyard that was
more of a show piece than a 1970's pool. To begin, the entire
deck surface was removed along with the retaining walls.
Because of several previous breaks in the piping, the entire
swimming pool was replumbed. Two additional water lines were
ran to accommodate the water bowl features. An epoxy injection
was done into the cracks. A travertine coping was installed
around the parameter of the swimming pool. A new drainage
system was designed for the pool deck to ensure proper drainage
during rain storms. The deck was then stamped with a Ashler
design. The retaining wall was rebuilt onto a new footer to
support the wall with a travertine cap. Two large solid
granite bowls were installed at the end of the pool to create water
fall feature. The deck was extended to cover the equipment
area eliminating an ugly gravel and dirt area that had been there
before. A had rail was added all of the existing pool
equipment was replaced.
Aquamaid performed the following tasks to transform with old
1970's look into a modern contemporary design.
- Installed two solid granite bowls at end of the swimming
pool.
- Replumbed the entire swimming pool adding two additional
lines for the water feature.
- Installed a new drainage system to prevent water collection
during heavy rains and winter storms.
- Removed the 1970's slide.
- Performed an epoxy injection to stabilize the cracks.
- Poured a new concrete deck and stamped the deck with an
Ashler design.
- Installed new tile and coping around the parameter of the
pool.
- Resurfaced the pool surface with a pebble finish using Stone
Scape Aqua White.

Heavy rains caused water to backup
onto the covered porch. We installed a new stamped
concrete deck and designed a new drainage system for the porch.

is gone.
